Technology meets sustainability: IGNITE visits vilisto

As part of our startup visits, we at IGNITE visited vilisto in Hamburg! The innovative company develops smart solutions to reduce the energy consumption of buildings and contribute to climate protection. For us, a great opportunity to look behind the scenes of a successful startup and learn more about the connection between technology, entrepreneurship and sustainability.

Smart technology for a more sustainable future

vilisto has set itself the goal of making the heating of non-residential buildings more efficient and sustainable. To do this, the company develops smart, self-learning radiator thermostats that use sensors and algorithms to detect when rooms are actually in use and adjust the temperature automatically.

This reduces energy consumption without giving up comfort. We found it especially exciting to see how a technological idea can become a concrete solution to one of the big challenges of our time.

Insights into founding, growth and impact

A special highlight of our visit was the personal exchange with Christoph Berger, one of vilisto’s founders.

We got exciting insights into the company’s origins and learned more about the path from the first idea to today’s startup. It was not only about the technology itself but also about the challenges of founding, the growth of a company and the question of how economic success can be combined with sustainable impact.

The open and honest insights were especially valuable, as was the chance to ask questions directly and learn from a founder’s experience.

What do we take away?

For us, the visit to vilisto was an inspiring experience that once again showed the potential in innovative ideas. The combination of technology, entrepreneurship and sustainability in particular impressed us and gave us many new ideas for our own work at IGNITE.

This is exactly why we organize our startup visits: we want to give students the chance to get to know exciting companies, look behind the scenes and talk to founders in person.

A big thank you to Christoph Berger and the vilisto team for the open exchange, the valuable lessons and the exciting insights!
